experience beginning in PGY-1 year. Chief residents graduate with more
than 1,200 major operations and are well-versed in all surgical
disciplines including critical care and advanced laparoscopic
techniques. Without the presence of subspecialty fellows, residents
routinely experience a more advanced case load

including fellowship-trained surgeons in surgical oncology, breast,
trauma/ critical care, vascular and colorectal surgery. Additionally,

With an outstanding clinical research department, the Gibbs Cancer
Center is one of only 15 National Comprehensive Cancer
Control Programs. Oncology services offered there are
affiliated with the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center.
